Hair Loss Treatment
Let’s have a look at some of the common treatment options currently available for balding.
Medical options:
1) Rogaine
Rogaine (or Minoxidil) is a drug that is approved by the United States FDA (Food and Drug Administration) for hair growth. Rogaine may not be effective in all cases and moreover its effects are only limited to slowing down hair loss. It promotes hair growth only in a minority of cases. Rogaine has little or no effect in the area of frontal hairline which is of prime concern to most men with male pattern baldness.
2) Propecia
Propecia (Finasteride) is another US FDA approved drug for slowing down hair loss in men. It is basically a smaller dose of the medicine Proscar which is used for treating enlarged prostate. Propecia does not have significant effect on the hairlines and thus cannot restore the frontal hairline (just like Rogaine). It promotes hair growth to some extent but again, that’s not seen in all cases.
Non-medical options:
1) Hair Transplantation
Thus you have a solution that is natural and permanent. It restores the hairline while adding density to the bald area thus giving a youthful appearance to the client. No wonder that it’s the ultimate solution for baldness.

2) Hair Systems
For people who cannot undergo hair transplantation surgery due to medical or any other reason, hair systems are a convenient option. With advancing times, natural looking hair is being increasingly used along with an almost undetectable base so that the hair system looks natural. Modern-day hair systems are now more comfortable and durable in nature.
3) Hair weaving or Hair Integration
Hair weaving is a procedure in which artificial hair or human hair of similar texture is woven with the existing hair. This gives an appearance of increased volume of hair. However, the woven hair stretch over a period of time and may also loosen out thus making hair weaving a temporary option. Moreover, hair weaving often results in damage to the existing hair too.
4) Laser Hair Therapy
Low level or ‘cold’ laser is used in this therapy to stimulate better blood flow in the balding area of the scalp. This also blocks the harmful effects of DHT (dihydrotestosterone). Laser therapy controls loss of hair, however, it cannot re-grow hair or restore the receding frontal hairline.
